Sreeja Sunkara

Hi! My name is Sreeja Sunkara and I am a high school junior from the quiet town of Montgomery, New Jersey. In order to understand my motive and passion for this organization, its important to give recognition to my favorite cartoon growing up, Avatar the Last Airbender. This childhood classic follows Aang and his friends on their prath to bring peace to the world by destroying the fire lord. Throughout their journey, Aang displays kindness, selflessness, and almost always tries to see the good in people.  I am thankful every day for my upbringing, however, I realize that many people around the world do not get to experience the same comforts as I do. In fact, by visiting family in India I was exposed at an early age to the immense hardships millions face on a daily basis. This enforced my drive, stronger than ever, to make a difference. This organization is a tool that enables me to creatively impact the world and make the inner Aang in me proud. I am so excited to be a part of this journey and I look forward to seeing where the organization makes a mark!

Shritha Velaga

Hello! My name is Shritha Velaga and I am a high school student in the small town, Montgomery, located in New Jersey. As a daughter of immigrants who grew up in Sweden and the United States, I was always aware of the fortunate life that I was given. As a young girl, seeing the impoverished communities around the world, especially from my parents’ motherland, India, I became strongly motivated to help the lives of those people that did not have the same luxuries that I had. When I entered my teenage years, I was inspired to research and learn about the stories of underprivileged communities, and I noticed the lack of action to help them. So, the idea was small, but by joining hands with my partner Sreeja, I was able to turn the small dream of little me, into an organization that would leave a positive footprint on this world. The creation of the Hospital Empowerment Network has allowed me to bring together my love for the medical field, and my passion to make a difference in the world. The adventure and the journey have just started, and I encourage you to join us!
